- Queen Mary 2, 150,000 Gross Tons the largest ocean liner ever built (as opposed to a cruise ship). QM2 has 15 restaurants and bars, 4 swimming pools, a casino, ballroom, theater and the only floating planetarium. The squatty appearance of the funnel reflects a late alteration to allow the QM2 to fit under the Verrazano Bride with a 13 foot clearance. Some of the items consumed by passengers annually: 230,000 bottles of wine, 1.5 million other drinks, 55,000 lbs of coffee, 7,000 boxes of strawberries, 38,000 lbs of salmon and enough beef to supply the city of Southampton for one year.
